After losing a couple of plastic trash containers to critters chewing through them I purchased two Behrens metal cans in 2005. I've had years of use from these cans which have held their shape with the lid still seating tightly. I guess one of the secrets to maintaining them in good condition is that I only use them for trash storage then place the plastic bags on the curb the day of trash collection Vs placing the can on the curb where the trash collectors would rough handle them. Overall a quality American made product that lasts. See if the cheap Chinese metal can you buy at a box store lasts as long!

I ordered this can, thinking I would use it to store dog food but realized immediately that it was just too large for that. The smaller version was definitely too small so I thought this size would work but it didn't. The can will be fine as a garbage can but it's not quite as sturdy as I thought it would be. The handle on the top wobbles. It doesn't feel really strong. Since I'm planning to use it as a back up can, in the event my other can gets filled before it's time to be collected, it will be fine. Would I buy another one? Probably not but it's okay so I'll hang on to it. After all, it's just a garbage can.
